CASA Training
The comprehensive training to become a CASA volunteer was professionally developed by the National CASA Association in consultation with child abuse and neglect professionals, juvenile court attorneys and judges, CASA staff, and CASA volunteers from all over the country. Using the standard curriculum, the goal of CASA training is to ensure that prospective volunteers receive the tools they need to be the best possible advocate for the children they will serve, while also providing a positive and stimulating experience. We realize you are taking time from your regular lives and families and we try our best to ensure that the time you give to CASA is being well spent. Training is scheduled at times that are convenient for most working people. Usually, the 30-hour training course is held two days or evenings per week, for 3 hours each day or evening. Note that completing the training does not automatically qualify you to volunteer; you must pass all screenings in order to volunteer.
In order to begin the application process to become a CASA volunteer in one of the Metro Atlanta CASA Collaborative's counties, please complete the Volunteer Inquiry Form. Orientations are scheduled throughout the year in the metro Atlanta area. (If a schedule is not currently posted, please check with the program you are interested in volunteering with to find out about scheduled orientation sessions.) The orientation will give you an overview of what to expect during CASA training. You must also have a personal interview prior to training.
If you are interested in learning more about CASA training in a Georgia county that is not part of the Metro Atlanta CASA Collaborative, please visit the Georgia CASA program directory to contact a program or call 404-874-2888.
